How we approach reviews
'Review' can mean a lot of things — a lab-grade malware detection test, a hands-on usability walk-through, or a marketing write-up dressed up as independent analysis. This page explains which of those we do, and where our review content draws its limits.
What our review content covers
Our articles about products such as Malwarebytes for Windows focus on usability, feature clarity, and how a tool fits into a typical Windows setup: install experience, scan behavior, how quarantine works, and how the free tier compares with the paid one at Malwarebytes Premium.
What we don't claim to do
We are not an independent malware-testing laboratory. We don't run controlled detection-rate trials against live malware samples the way accredited testing labs do, and we don't publish detection percentages as if we had. Where a claim about detection performance appears in our writing, it's attributed to its actual source rather than presented as our own lab result.
Keeping reviews independent
Review content follows the same rules as the rest of the site described in our editorial policy: no paid placement for a favorable mention, and corrections are made when a detail is found to be outdated or wrong. If you spot something inaccurate in a review-style article, the contact page is the fastest way to flag it.
Frequently asked questions
Do you run your own malware detection tests?
No. We don't operate a testing lab. Our content focuses on usability and feature explanation rather than lab-grade detection benchmarking.
Are your reviews paid for by software vendors?
No paid placements determine what a review says. See our editorial policy for the standards we follow.
Where can I find accredited lab test results for Malwarebytes?
Independent testing organizations that specialize in antivirus benchmarking publish that data on their own sites; we're not one of them, but we may reference their findings when relevant.
